P90-What?!?!

Okay...so I fell off the wagon a bit.
I started the P90X program with full intentions of completing the full 90 days.
I knew it may be difficult with upcoming races etc, but figured I'd give it a shot.

Well, here's what happened.

I tend to do the workouts at night.  I'm just NOT a morning person and cannot convince myself to get up extra early to do these workouts.

No way.
So, typically I would end up doing the workout at about 10pm.
All was fine and dandy until the night before the San Diego Mud Run on Halloween.  Saturday night I was supposed to start Week 2 Day 1--the day of push-ups and pull-ups.  That workout makes me unable to lift my arms with out them shaking.
I started thinking about it and realized I really needed to have arm strength for the mud run.
Seriously...those are some slippery, muddy hills.
So...I decided to postpone that workout.  I did the mud run on Sunday, which happened to be Plyometrics day...again after doing the mud run I wasn't sure how well I would do with Plyos!

And...there you have it.

I need to restart my 90 days...but...I had a BLAST at the mud run, so, it was worth it!  :-)

Here are some of the 'dirty' pics from the Mud Run...not part of my list but way cool and I'll do it again whenever I can!

Kaya, Katie and Me before getting muddy

Me going under one of the flag lines.

Me, Kaya, Brook, and Katie: after the fun waiting for the 'showers'...see that trickle of water in the background...yup...that was supposed to get all that mud off.

Katie and Me (and funny mustache dude that is WAY too clean to have participated!)

Me: loving all the mud!  The last time I did one I didn't feel that I looked muddy enough...they just sprayed us with the fire hose so much that we were kind of clean at the end.  This time, Katie and I stopped and had a mud fight to ensure we were muddy enough!

Done...

Week 1/Day 1 of P90X is completed.

As much as I kind of dread doing these workouts...they really are fun.
I mean...I can't DO them like crazy Tony, and I have to mute him most of the time.

But...I started.

I know I said I would maybe post my 'Fit Test' results...but I didn't even really do some of it.  It was hard to measure how far past my toes I could reach myself...and how does one measure how high they jump by themselves?
I know I am physically fit enough to do these workouts.

And in all honestly...I don't really care how high I can jump.

I mentioned before that while completing the 90 days I also want to reach my goal weight.
According to my scale I'm 11 pounds away.

Seeing as I'm doing Weight Watchers, P90X, and have multiple races (mud run, roller blading a half marathon, and a regular half marathon)I'm hoping this isn't too hard.

Right now my goal weight is 125.

Weight Watchers always weighs me about 2lbs more than my scale, so I guess on my scale I want to be 123...at which time I'll reconsider if I want to lose more or stay there.

I haven't taken my 'before' photos yet for P90X...I may post them...but yeah...probably not.  Or at least not until I reach my goal!

Seriously...who really wants to see 'before' pics anyway?!?!?!

P90X

Tomorrow is the big day.

I'm staring P90X.

Tomorrow will be the Fit Test and possibly Day 1/Week 1.

That's all.

(depending on how I do with my Fit Test...I may or may not post results)

Reserving my right!

Long Beach 1/2 Marathon is over.

Done.
Finis.
Fertig.
Finito.

I hurt.
My hamstrings hurt.
My quads hurt.
My abs hurt.
My hip flexors hurt.

You get the point.  It's my own darn fault.
I told you I didn't train.
The one thing that I am thankful for is that I don't have one single blister.

How?

I have no clue.  I haven't worn those shoes since...uhm...maybe August?!?!

Yes...I've been slacking...big time!

But...I finished.
I finished walking the 1/2 in 3:07:11.

Crap.

I would have liked sub 3:00 but wasn't expecting it for sure.  It would have been nice though.

In the process of doing this race I came upon a realization.  I truly do not think it is physically possible for me to complete the La Jolla 1/2 Marathon in under 3 hours.

Physically NOT possible.

I can train.
I can train and complete a 1/2 in under 3 hours.
I cannot train and complete La Jolla in under 3 hours.

When I'm on a course I see and 'onramp' or an 'overpass', I think,
"Oh god...a hill".
Those are bumps in the road in comparison of what the La Jolla brings!

Yup

La Jolla says,
"BRING IT", and I say..."no thank you!"

So, back to my title of this post.

I am reserving my right to change my 'Triple Crown' item.  I still want to complete a series of races.  I've been looking at other sets and one I may look into doing is California Dreamin...but there are others too.  So the jury is out on which one I will do...but this I know.

I will NOT being doing the Triple Crown.

Long Beach

So, the Long Beach 1/2 Marathon is not officially part of my 'bucket list'

but

it is one more chance to work on my time to help me reach my 'Triple Crown' item.

The Triple Crown is a series of 3 1/2 marathons in San Diego, starting with the Carlsbad 1/2 in January.  The stipulation with the TC is that you must finish in the allotted time frame.

No big deal, right??

Well, it never has been...but...most 1/2's that I've completed have a 3.5 hour time limit.
Now you runners are thinking,

"OMG, that's slow"

but as a walker you definitely need to keep your hustle.

I typically finish a little after 3:00.
To be exact the OC 1/2 last May was 3:06 and the SD Rock n Roll was 3:03.

Here's the tough part...2 of the races for the TC have a 3:00 time limit...and one of those races has an absolutely ridiculous hill (check out mile 6).

So...I really and truly am not sure if I'll be able to complete in under 3 hours.  But...it's not until April so I have time and this weekend is just another chance to see if I can get under the 3 hour mark.

Note: I haven't trained.

AT ALL

Getting started...

Two items will be starting soon.  My friend, Judi, randomly asked me yesterday if she could borrow my P90X.  I told her that I was thinking about starting it up again, so we decided to motivate each other and get started.  We should be staring the 90 days in about a week.  We also decided to make it a goal to reach our goal weights by New Years Eve.

Okay.

Deep breath.

No more slacking off....no more 'sneaking' treats from the vending machine.

Game on.

***P90X***

***Goal Weight***

These two items go hand in hand so I may as well accomplish them together.

Now...just to add a bit of complication to the P90X matter...within the next 90 days I also have: the Long Beach Half Marathon, a Mud Run, and a Half Marathon on roller blades...I also have the Carlsbad Half Marathon in 103 days.

So...yeah...lots of working out coming to a body near me soon!

Yikes!

Making it official...

My friend, John Corripo, has a bucket list of 200 items.  He challenged me to make one too, and come up with 50 items.  Sounds easy doesn't it?  No, it's not!  I got to number 8 and got stuck.

Totally stuck!

I now have 32.  I promise I'll come up with 50.  I may even do more.

Here are some of my rules.
I reserve the right to add, delete and change my list whenever I want.
The items on my list must mean a lot to me.  I've received a lot of great ideas from friends, but a lot are things that I think sound 'cool', but not that would really mean a lot to me.
There is no time frame for me to complete these items, but I hope to be continuously working on items.
I will post and update-with pictures-when I complete and/or am working on items.
I can add, delete or change my rules whenever I want.

I have one item on my list (#1--the bone marrow match-I realized that the number could change b/c I have it listed in ABC order)  that I have absolutely no control over.  Should it be on my list...probably not...but I don't care...it's my list and I'll do what I want!  So there! :-)

Feel free to comment with suggestions for my list!!!
